Max Holloway snubs iconic Justin Gaethje KO when naming favorite win of his legendary career

Max Holloway gave a surprising answer when naming which of his wins takes the top spot.

While a fighter at UFC Perth may surpass Holloway’s total UFC wins, the current BMF titleholder has a lot of highlights to look back on.

‘Blessed’ debuted inside the Octagon all the way back in 2012 after having just four professional fights.

It unfortunately looks like we’re going to be waiting a bit longer before seeing Holloway step back inside the Octagon due to the hand injury he suffered last time out.

However, there are so many incredible fights to look back on, which the former featherweight king recently did.

Max Holloway says his undisputed title win in 2017 will never be topped as his favorite

Max Holloway recently appeared on the UFC’s ‘Glory Days’ series where he reflected on the landmark UFC 300 event that took place last year.

On that night, Holloway knocked out Justin Gaethje in their BMF title fight, producing one of the most instantly iconic finishes we’ve ever seen inside the Octagon.

Every single aspect of the fight built to a remarkable moment that will be burned into the eyes of fans for a very long time.

While Holloway’s legendary point down has been imitated but never outdone, this stunning moment surprisingly doesn’t make it his favorite win.

‘Blessed’ told Daniel Cormier that there’s one fight that is never going to lose its position as the win that he looks back on with the most fond memories.

At UFC 212 in 2017, Holloway became an undisputed champion for the first time and he did it by stopping a legend of the sport in his hometown.

“I mean, if I had to stack up my favorite wins of all time overall, the number one spot is always going to be the Jose Aldo one. I won the undisputed against him in Rio. To fight the ‘King of Rio’ in Rio and to do what I did to him over there, that’s not ever going to be topped.”

Max Holloway’s greatest performance didn’t even happen in a UFC title fight

While his first undisputed title fight is his favorite win for obvious reasons, there’s an argument to be made that Max Holloway’s best performance came in a non-title main event.

Calvin Kattar may not be held in the same regard now as he was in 2021, but in Abu Dhabi, ‘Blessed’ produced one of the most impressive and one-sided high-level fights in UFC history.

His performance broke multiple UFC records including total and significant strikes landed and attempted in a single fight.

Simply put, if you want to watch one of the best of his era outclass an opponent that people thought would challenge him, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better example.

On January 16 of 2021, there was no doubting that the best was ‘Blessed’.
