Alex Pereira has got big plans in mind for his next UFC bout following a huge night in Las Vegas.
Before he lost the light heavyweight title earlier this year, ‘Poatan’ had made it clear that he wanted to move up a division in the near future.
Pereira restated that heavyweight is his goal once again now that he’s got the 205 pound gold wrapped back around his waist following UFC 320.
Dana White may be against the idea of Pereira moving up again, but there’s no denying that a fight between him and a returning Jon Jones would be huge.
‘Poatan’ would even have the chance to tie a legendary record when facing off with the consensus greatest of all time.

Alex Pereira could go on to tie Anderson Silva’s title fight knockout record when facing Jon Jones
Alex Pereira joined Jon Jones in the history books on October 4 by becoming the third two-time light heavyweight champion in UFC history.
There is another accolade that ‘Poatan’ added to his name by stopping Magomed Ankalaev in the opening round.
He is now the only UFC fighter to have produced exactly six knockouts when competing in title fights inside the Octagon.
Despite Pereira’s incredible success, many still consider Anderson Silva to be the greatest Brazilian fighter of all time.

‘The Spider’, whose last knockout in a UFC title fight came all the way back at UFC 148 in 2012 where he stopped Chael Sonnen in their rematch, still holds the record for the most knockouts in title fights at seven.
A fight between Pereira and Jones, especially if it’s held at the White House, would already have so much significance.
The opportunity for ‘Poatan’ to equal Silva’s record by being the first man to finish Jones would simply be another notable aspect of the matchup.

A different UFC 320 fighter is now tied for the most consecutive knockout wins
One of the fighters at UFC 320 continued his breakout year after signing to the promotion in September of 2024.
Ateba Gautier stopped Treston Vines in the opening round, after his late replacement opponent stepped in for Ozzy Diaz.
With this win, Gautier has now produced three consecutive knockouts inside the Octagon, all of which have come in the opening round.
This ties him with UFC champions Tom Aspinall and Ilia Topuria for having the longest active UFC knockout streak.
