Dustin Poirier’s recent social media post has reached the man that he targeted.
Poirier has stated that he’s still coming to terms with his retirement after stepping inside the Octagon for the final time at UFC 318 earlier this year.
‘The Diamond’ was able to cap off his incredible career by fighting in front of his home fans in Louisiana for the final time.
However, Poirier recently teased that there is one fight that he would come back for if the opportunity presented itself, which has now received a response.

Nate Diaz claims that Dustin Poirier ‘isn’t allowed’ to face him in Zuffa Boxing
Dustin Poirier claimed on September 30 that a 12-round boxing clash with Nate Diaz is the only fight that he would come back for at this stage of his career.
The two men were originally scheduled to face one another in the co-main event of UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden.
When the fight fell apart, a rivalry developed between them due to disputes over why the bout was no longer taking place.
This tension still exists today, with Diaz sharing his thoughts on Poirier’s retirement in the lead-up to UFC 318.
The former UFC star clearly saw Poirier’s pitch for them to face each other in Zuffa Boxing, as he responded via social media.
Diaz has stated that he wants to stay active after boxing several times since parting ways with the UFC in 2022, but he claimed that this wouldn’t be an option for ‘The Diamond’.
“I’d beat your a– but you’re not allowed. PS you’re checked out already.”

Dustin Poirier has referred to his fight with Nate Diaz not happening as one of his only career regrets
Dustin Poirier has a lot of fond memories to look back on from his career, but for all the great fighters and big names that he faced, Nate Diaz remains the one that got away.
‘The Diamond’ did mention the former UFC star on several occasions before his retirement as one of the only regrets of his career.
After Diaz accused him of pulling out of their UFC 230 matchup, ‘The Diamond’ clarified back in 2018 that he only pulled out because he was told that he’d no longer be facing Diaz on this date.
Poirier, who would have fought through the injury in order to put on this highly anticipated clash, clearly still wants to settle this score.
