Many believed during her undefeated rise through the rankings that Tatiana Suarez would hold UFC gold at some stage in her career.
When challenging for the belt for the first time, the wrestling specialist suffered the first loss of her career.
Suarez was beaten by Zhang Weili earlier this year, with the one-sided nature of the fight leading to questions regarding the current status of her potential.
She looked to bounce back into the win column by beating Amanda Lemos on September 13, and while she won a unanimous decision, the performance didn’t do anything to win fans back on side.
A lot of the reactions to this clash on social media were fans criticizing Suarez following a very forgettable strawweight matchup.

Tatiana Suarez may still have earned a title shot despite her underwhelming performance
While Tatiana Suarez received criticism for her Noche UFC win, ultimately, she got her hand raised in an important strawweight matchup.
Getting back in the win column puts the American in a good spot considering that a new champion is set to be crowned in this division next month.
The UFC is not going to be falling head over heels to put Suarez in with the winner of Virna Jandiroba vs Mackenzie Dern after that performance, but there are very few options in this weight class.
It wasn’t pretty but this victory could still be a huge one for Suarez and her championship ambitions.
