Dominick Cruz gets called out on social media for incorrectly claiming that Alice Pereira is related to Alex Pereira
In the second fight of Noche UFC, Alice Pereira suffered her first defeat, leading to questions about whether the young fighter is ready to face UFC-level opposition.
A fairly uneventful first round led to Montse Rendon turning things up in the second round, continuing this momentum into the third to win a split decision.
One judge did score the fight for Pereira, but they were outweighed by the other two, with one scorecard having Rendon taking all three rounds.
However, before the fight kicked off, fans took to social media following a commentary blunder.
Dominick Cruz stated that Pereira is the sister of the former UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, which was instantly corrected by Daniel Cormier.
Cruz went on to say that she has trained with ‘Poatan’ instead, but fans weren’t going to let this mistake slip by unnoticed.
‘And he said in the past DC doesn’t do his homework.’

Dominick Cruz recently addressed his criticism of Daniel Cormier’s commentary
As several responses on social media made reference to, Dominick Cruz has previously criticized Daniel Cormier for not doing his homework before calling fights.
The former UFC bantamweight champion recently spoke about this during his appearance on Demetrious Johnson’s MightyCast.
Cruz said that he believes that at points, Cormier doesn’t do a good job of breaking the fight down for people who aren’t fighters themselves.
“I said it this way because the bottom line is, he’s explaining moves like they’re easy. It’s like dude, talk about why that’s easy for you… You’ve been doing this since you were two. That single leg is not simple. It is so hard and I love being able to explain like this guy’s special.”
It will be interesting to see whether Cormier makes reference to this in the aftermath of Noche UFC after fact checking his commentary partner.
