Molly McCann kicked by opponent as eventful boxing debut ends in TKO after UFC retirement

Making her first venture to the ring this evening, ex-UFC star Molly McCann certainly impressed, after a rather bizarre in-ring incident.

Making her return to combat sports after her retirement from mixed martial arts, Molly McCann called time on her lengthy UFC run back in March.

And making her walk to the squared circle tonight, beneath a world title rematch between Lewis Crocker and Paddy Donovan, McCann prevailed with an impressive display.

Forcing an eventual final round win, the Liverpool native managed to survive a rather bizarre moment in the corner after a lengthy barrage.

Molly McCann stops Kate Radomska after bizarre front kick

Landing a sixth-round knockout win over opponent Kate Radomska, Merseyside puncher McCann made her pro boxing debut in an outing in Belfast.

Pouring on the pressure from the onset and throughout their six-round clash, McCann was inexplicably kicked in the body by Radomska during the second round of their fight, after scoring big with a long barrage of punches in the corner.

Going unnoticed, in a move which may have seen her disqualified, McCann was not to be deterred, dropping Radomska in the fifth round with a huge overhand right shot.

And in the sixth, showing off some eye-catching footwork, McCann would land a pair of big shots against Radomska in the middle of the ring, before her opponent’s corner threw in the towel, halting the contest.

Molly McCann’s links to pro boxing

Sharing quite the familial link to professional boxing, McCann’s move to the sport has been backed by one of the sport’s biggest stars.

Hailing from Norris Green, McCann is a relative of lineal super lightweight world champion Katie Taylor, with the duo cousins.

McCann also has three grandparents hailing from the Republic of Ireland, too.
