Mackenzie Dern put together the most complete performance of her UFC career in the main event of Saturday’s UFC Vegas 73 fight card. Dern dominated her strawweight bout against Angela Hill and picked up a fight-night bonus to go with her one-sided decision victory.
While primarily known for her grappling skills, Dern showed she is getting more comfortable, confident, and aggressive with her striking. In the process of defeating Hill, Mackenzie Dern put up personal bests in significant strikes landed in a UFC fight (126), significant strikes attempted (210), total strikes landed (247), total strikes attempted (340), and significant strike percentage landed in a fight that went the distance (60 percent). Dern also picked up her first knockdown since 2018 in the win over Hill and had a UFC career-high three takedowns while securing a UFC career-high of 13:12 in control time.
Hill lost the fight, but the UFC veteran broke several of her own UFC strawweight records at UFC Vegas 73, including marks related to total significant strikes and total strikes landed for the weight division.
