Fans react to ‘chad’ UFC title contender appearing in metal band’s mosh pit weeks out from huge fight

A UFC star who is just weeks away from a huge bout blew off some steam in Las Vegas.

This past Saturday night saw the UFC return to Australia, where Carlos Ulberg stopped Dominick Reyes in the main event at the RAC Arena in Perth.

While Ulberg’s win tees up a huge week for the light heavyweight division, with UFC 320 in Las Vegas coming up next, there’s another division that is set for a big month.

One of the most significant matchups of October will likely see one fighter emerge as the next title challenger in their respective weight class.

That didn’t stop one Octagon veteran from having some fun before one of the biggest fights of his career.

Fans applaud Alexander Volkov after he appears shirtless in a mosh pit at a Slaughter to Prevail show

At UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi, Alexander Volkov will face Jailton Almeida in a heavyweight title eliminator.

The Russian hasn’t competed since December of last year, but the huge implications of his next outing didn’t stop him from showing up to support a band he has history with.

Friday night saw Falling in Reverse’s ‘God Is A Weapon’ tour arrive in Las Vegas, where support came from controversial Russian deathcore band, Slaughter to Prevail.

Volkov previously appeared in the band’s music video for their song, ‘Russian Grizzly In America’, which was released in April of this year.

Vocalist Alex Terrible, who has had several bare knuckle fights, shouted the UFC heavyweight out on stage, leading the fans in attendance to stop and applaud ‘Drago’ as the shirtless fighter took a break from moshing.

After the video was originally posted by Red Corner MMA, fans sent their reactions on social media.

‘Imagine going in the pit and seeing Volkov.’

‘imagine you got to a Slaughter to Prevail show, jump into the pit with the intention to crowd kill, and then realize you ended up hitting f—— Alexander Volkov.’

‘Volkov is such a Chad.’

‘While [Ciryl] Gane’s training for a fight he will lose in a round, Volkov’s living his best life. The robbery was for the best.’

‘Gonna hop out the pit if I see Volkov but not warn anybody lol.’

‘YES!!! I knew I liked this dude for a reason!!’

Tom Aspinall expects Alexander Volkov to be his next opponent after UFC 321

On the same night that Alexander Volkov will face Jailton Almeida, Tom Aspinall defends his heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane in the main event.

The undisputed champion recently gave his prediction for the matchup that will decide the next challenger when speaking to Bloody Elbow.

“I do think Almeida is good. I’ve not seen enough of Almeida’s game to say how good he actually is.

“At this point, it’s hard to say, but I would favor Volkov in that one.”

Aspinall defeated Volkov via submission in the first round when they met for the first time in March of 2022.
