‘Horrible card’… Fans react as poor UFC Perth ticket sales leads to ‘half full’ venue prediction

Fans aren’t surprised to hear that this weekend’s UFC card isn’t matching the promotion’s usual success.

The Octagon is set to return to the RAC Arena in Australia this Saturday night for UFC Perth.

It’s far from the most stacked event of the year so far, with many fans already turning their attention towards UFC 320, which takes place the following weekend.

While the main event between Carlos Ulberg and Dominick Reyes could have a big impact on the light heavyweight division, it’s not the kind of matchup that instantly leaps off the page.

There are several factors regarding this card which have led to a lack of interest from fans who would usually consider attending this event.

Fans heavily criticize multiple aspects of UFC Perth following poor ticket sales

A segment on Australia’s 7News claimed that UFC Perth has suffered from “poor ticket sales” ahead of the event.

The report went as far as to state that the RAC Arena could be left “half full” on Saturday night even after ticket prices were discounted.

While the event could still end up producing some memorable highlights, there are several reasons why fans believe that this is the case.

Along with the overall strength of the card not being enough to convince potential customers, other factors such as the time that it will take place, the location, and most importantly, the prices, have put people off.

Fans made this very clear when reacting to the news just days out from the promotion’s return to Perth.

‘It’s a horrible card and the tickets are probably $400+ each, they’ve got 2 Australian Champions and yet neither of them are defending in Australia.’

‘Of course low sales for UFC Perth when the card is straight mid. Keep disrespecting Oceania fans by sending us C-tier Fight Nights and watch what happens.’

‘Guess it’s time to stop holding events at 5am on a Sunday.’

‘A lot of New Zealanders would normally fly over for these events- but it’s difficult to justify with the ridiculous price and poor card.’

‘I mean take a look at the card how could anybody be surprised.’

‘That’s what happens when you charge an arm and a leg for nosebleed seats for a mediocre card…’

UFC Perth reported to be the worst-selling UFC event since the COVID-19 pandemic

One quick glance at the current availability for UFC Perth shows just how low the ticket sales currently are.

Andy Hickey wrote on X, after checking this for himself, that this makes it “easily the worst selling event at this point post Covid.”

With Hickey stating that fans can now get in the building at a discounted price of around $110 dollars, many of the reactions to his post suggested that fans have received much better value for money at different UFC events.

When comparing UFC Perth to some of the upcoming or previous Fight Night events that haven’t taken place at the Apex, it’s easy to see why the Australian audience is disappointed.
