UFC star Dan Hooker has once again swapped roles to put on his own brutal event.
It has been over a year since the fan favorite lightweight last stepped foot inside the Octagon.
While Hooker has voiced some frustrations with the UFC in recent times, he’s found other ways to keep himself busy before making his return.
There are a lot of current or former fighters who end up going into the promoter business to use their experience in a different way.
Hooker’s venture was met with criticism from the moment he started ‘1 Minute Scraps’ but that’s not making him think twice about continuing down this path.

Dan Hooker delivers a motivational speech to his fighters before 32-man tournament gets underway
Dan Hooker made it very clear that he wasn’t going to pull the plug on his backyard-style tournament events despite the pushback they received.
His format sees fighters show up to an event and get randomly drawn against each other in one-minute boxing fights in MMA gloves.
The all-action ruleset has already seen ‘1 Minute Scraps’ produce some devastating knockouts, and the latest event was no different.
This event, that took place inside a gym, featured 32 super heavyweight fighters competing for a staggering $50,000 prize.
To set the tone for the event and tell the fighters exactly what they expect from him, Hooker delivered a speech before any fists were thrown.
“You’ve seen what happened with the first two, this s— goes global bro. This is a chance to make yourself a f—— star. Go out there and f—— fight hard, boys. Try to put that man down. No grabbing, no mucking around. We’re all here for the same reason. We like to fight and we like to throw punches. All that other s—‘s out the window.”
TheMacLife’s Oscar Willis, who was in attendance for the event, immediately laughed at the UFC’s star’s attempt to get his fighters fired up.
“It’s like listening to [Winston] Churchill in his prime. Maybe [Mahatma] Gandhi. He’s got a real way with words.”
The full event is available to watch via TheMacLife’s YouTube channel.

One fighter more than lived up to Dan Hooker’s expectations for ‘1 Minute Scraps’
Dan Hooker told his fighters that this was their opportunity to make themselves a star, and this event certainly had one frontrunner in this aspect.
The tournament was won by Kaia Cole, who impressed fans in the comments with the power he holds in both hands.
Cole fought incredibly aggressively in each of his bouts, winning all of them except the final with devastating knockouts, as seen below.
Hooker’s events might not represent a high level of martial arts but they undoubtedly deliver exactly what the UFC star wants.
