‘Can’t be serious’… Fans divided on UFC main event switch-up featuring two first-time headliners

A recent report for an upcoming UFC main event has fans split following a switch around.

On November 1, the Octagon will return to the Apex in Las Vegas for a Fight Night card.

The UFC announced that recent arrival Ante Delija will face Waldo Cortes-Acosta on UFC Vegas 110 in a significant heavyweight clash.

Several reports claimed that this would be the main event of the evening, which makes sense considering the stakes involved after Delija’s explosive debut in Paris.

However, an update has now been provided which states that there’s another bout that will close this particular show.

Fans react to Steve Garcia vs David Onama being reported as the actual main event for UFC Vegas 110

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter) Marcel Dorff revealed that the main event on November 1 will be a top 15 featherweight contest between Steve Garcia and David Onama.

His report, which has now been backed by several other sources, also states that Waldo Cortes-Acosta will still face Ante Delija on this date, but it won’t be closing the show.

Both Garcia and Onama are on impressive win streaks at 145 pounds, with the American winning his last six bouts, including a run of five consecutive knockouts.

After Garcia beat Calvin Kattar this past July, he will now face Onama, who has four wins under his belt, including a victory earlier this year over Giga Chikadze.

Fans were split on this announcement on social media, with some choosing to point out that this should be a very entertaining main event even if it doesn’t have the name value or stakes that you would usually expect.

‘Banger fight, high chance for a violent ending in this one. Winner of this one will get a top 10 matchup next. Not sure how there’s so many people hating on this matchup, it will deliver.’

‘Interesting fight, but for a main event it’s a bit weak.’

‘YES! Way better fight (than Cortes-Acosta vs Delija).’

‘Got to the weakest male headliner fight ever. Good fight but no name value at all. Sums up why the Apex needs to be a relic of the past.’

‘Honestly it’s nice to see some fresh headliners for the Apex, not the usual same people who headline the Apex cards.’

‘We can’t be serious.’

Other reported matchups for UFC Vegas 110 include a top 5 clash at women’s bantamweight

While not every fight has been made official by the UFC as of yet, there are several other reported matchups for UFC Vegas 110 on November 1.

This includes another significant matchup for its division between the #3 and #5 ranked contenders at 135 pounds.
