UFC Paris tied three other cards for a record after legend said it might be ‘the greatest UFC event of all time’

The electrifying crowd in Paris was spurred on by a night that kept producing highlights.

Expectations were always going to be high ahead of September 6 due to the reputation that UFC Paris events have built up.

While Adin Ross may have taken a loss due to one of the results, the fans inside the Accor Arena certainly didn’t.

Not only did all five of the home fighters emerge victorious, the card produced a stunning amount of finishes.

Six first-round finishes, including one that left a fighter leaving the Octagon in a wheelchair, helped the event to make UFC history.

UFC Paris ties the record for the most finishes on one event

11 of the 13 fights at UFC Paris ended without the judges being called into action, which saw the event tie the UFC record for the most finishes at a single event.

Michael Bisping had referred to the card as a contender for the best event ever, and that was only after the prelims had finished.

Only the main card opener and the middleweight headliner, where Nassourdine Imavov defeated Caio Borralho, went the distance.

The card did break a record for the most knockouts at a single event, but it is now tied with three other events for most finishes.

The earliest of which is the UFC Fight Night that took place on November 8 of 2014 in Sydney, where Luke Rockhold submitted Bisping and every fight produced a finish.

Similarly to UFC Paris, UFC 224 on May 12 of 2018 produced two decision wins, with Amanda Nunes ending the night with a TKO finish over Raquel Pennington to defend her bantamweight title.

Finally, UFC 281 at Madison Square Garden was voted the best event of 2022 after every fight on the main card ended in stunning fashion.

Alex Pereira closed the show on this occasion, rallying in the fifth round to finish Israel Adesanya and win the middleweight title.

Four fighters earned performance bonuses at UFC Paris

As a result of their being so many finishes, picking the fighters that would earn bonuses for their performances became a bit more difficult.

There was no fight of the night bonus given out as a result, despite the main event being an entertaining matchup over five rounds.

After another stunning night in the French capital, UFC Paris might not be one of the greatest events of all time, but it’ll likely be high up when it comes to end of the year lists.
