Many have written off Conor McGregor in MMA at this point, but Michael Bisping still sees at least one matchup he would come out victorious in.
McGregor has not competed inside the cage since July 2021, when his trilogy fight against longtime rival Dustin Poirier ended with the Irishman suffering a gruesome broken leg. That result marked his second defeat to ‘The Diamond’ in the space of seven months, and many expect it to go down as McGregor’s last act as a UFC fighter.
A canceled bout with Michael Chandler in 2024 further convinced the MMA masses that the former two-division champion is done. However, a potential spark to light the fire of his comeback emerged recently in the form of Donald Trump’s planned event on the White House lawn.
McGregor immediately raised his hand for the celebration on July 4, 2026, and Bisping thinks he would be wise to push for a familiar opponent.

Michael Bisping would pick Conor McGregor in rearranged Michael Chandler clash
During a video recently uploaded to his YouTube channel, Bisping looked ahead to a potential McGregor return at the White House.
Though ‘The Count’ admitted the Dubliner is likely far from the fighter he was a number of years ago, he identified a fitting matchup that would see McGregor possibly have the edge over a fellow veteran in a similar position.
“Of course he wants to make a comeback. He wants to be on that White House card,” Bisping said in reaction to a recent video showing McGregor being drug tested.
“Fair play to the guy. I respect the fact that he still wants to fight. … Will he still be the same fighter? I very much doubt it. Things move on, simple as that. McGregor’s getting a little bit older.
“Who would he fight? Well, of course, there is the match with Michael Chandler,” Bisping continued. “I’d like to see him come back. Him vs. Chandler is an interesting fight, 100 percent. (It is) certainly a fight that I would favor Conor McGregor to win.
“The version of Michael Chandler that we saw against Paddy Pimblett was washed, he was done, he was over the hill, he looked terrible.”
Pimblett destroyed Chandler at UFC 314 this past April, dominating him en route to a third-round TKO that has left the American with just two wins in his seven Octagon appearances.

Another UFC lightweight wants a shot at Michael Chandler
Should Chandler want to avoid another potentially long and unfruitful wait for McGregor to come back, he has at least one other fighter raring to share the cage with him in the meantime.
Terrance McKinney recently called Chandler out. The 30-year-old is responsible for the fastest finish in UFC lightweight history and has incredibly ended 16 of his 17 professional MMA victories inside the first round.
‘T. Wrecks’ is yet to break into the rankings at 155 pounds but has won his last two fights. McKinney most recently submitted Viacheslav Borshchev in 55 seconds at UFC 317, an event headlined by Ilia Topuria knocking out Charles Oliveira.
‘Iron’ also boasts a penchant for fast starts, a fact that almost saw Chandler finish Oliveira at UFC 262 to win the title. With that in mind, McKinney proposed a battle to see who the UFC’s best first-round fighter is.
“lol twrecks vs iron Mike let’s see who is the best first rd’er in the lightweight division,” he wrote on X.
