An undefeated flyweight will step up on short notice to save the UFC Vegas 108 card on Saturday.
UFC flyweight contender Tatsuro Taira was supposed to face Amir Albazi in a pivotal matchup to headline UFC Vegas 108 this Saturday at the Apex. But just days before the event, Albazi withdrew from the fight due to injury, leaving the UFC matchmakers scrambling for a last-minute replacement.
Some speculated whether or not the UFC would move forward with the lingering UFC Vegas 108 card and swap in a new main event, or if the promotion would be able to face a willing adversary for Taira. Luckily, the matchmakers didn’t need long to avert their recent crisis.

Tatsuro Taira set to face unbeaten flyweight in new UFC Vegas 108 main event
As reported on Monday morning, undefeated flyweight Hyun Sung Park will face Taira in the new UFC Vegas 108 main event this Saturday. The fight will be a five-rounder at 125 lbs, as previously planned for Taira vs. Albazi.
UFC Vegas 108 will be a huge spotlight for Asian MMA, featuring two regional headliners. Park, a Road to UFC two-time winner, is 29 years old and will enter the Taira fight with an undefeated 10-0 record.
Park is a dangerous submission artist with a most-recent first-round finish of Carlos Hernandez in May. He defeated Shannon Ross and Seung Guk Choi in 2023, with two of his three UFC wins coming by rear-naked choke.
Park was supposed to face former title challenger Steve Erceg at UFC Vegas 109, headlined by a middleweight bout between Roman Dolidze and Anthony Hernandez. It’s uncertain if Erceg will get a new opponent or will be rescheduled for a later return date.
Taira is looking to get back in the win column following his first-career defeat to Brandon Royval by split decision last October. Before the loss to Royval, Taira defeated the likes of Alex Perez, Edgar Chairez, and CJ Vergara.
Who is Hyun Sung Park?
Park made his professional MMA debut in November 2018, defeating Min Soo Kwon by unanimous decision at Double G FC 1. After five straight wins in Double G FC, he earned a shot in Road to UFC in June 2022, knocking out Jeremia Siregar in the first round.
In addition to his slick grappling, Park is a dynamic striker, as evidenced in his liver shot knockout of Ross in December 2023. He’ll put up a strong test for Taira and shouldn’t be slept on ahead of UFC Vegas 108.
UFC Vegas 108 features the returns of veterans like Neil Magny, Rodolfo Vieira, and budding prospects like Kevin Vallejos. Esteban Ribovics, who defeated Daniel Zellhuber in a ‘Fight of the Year’ frontrunner at UFC 306 last year, returns on the main card against Elves Brener.
