UFC Fight Night: Holloway vs Allen stats review — ‘Blessed’ breaks 3k significant strikes landed

The next UFC fighter to land 2,000 total significant strikes will be the second UFC fighter to accomplish that feat. And even when they hit that mark, that fighter will still trail Max Holloway by more than 1,000 significant strikes landed.

Entering Saturday’s UFC Fight Night: Holloway vs. Allen fight card in Kansas City, ‘Blessed’ was the only fighter with more than 2,000 sig. strikes landed in the history of the Octagon. When the stats from his unanimous decision win over Allen were tallied, Holloway became the first fighter with the promotion to land over 3,000 sig. strikes in a career.

The 31-year-old—who remains outside the top 10 in career UFC fights, with 27—has put a massive gap between himself and the next two active fighters listed in that statistical category, Angela Hill and Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Those two women are currently tied at 1,754. After racking up his lastest victory, Holloway’s total sig. strikes landed number is now 3,122. The Hawaiian is also the only UFC fighter with more than 3,000 total strikes landed, currently sitting at 3,366.

In the evening’s co-main event, Edson Barboza did his part to break another UFC record. With Barboza’s knockout win over Billy Quarantillo via a knee to the head at distance, Saturday’s UFC Fight Night card became the first in UFC history to have two fights end via step knee. Brandon Royval was the first fighter on the Kansas City card to score it, via a knee to the head of Matheus Nicolau in the first round of their prelim fight. Barboza and Royval earned “Performance of the Night” bonuses for their stoppage wins.

Below, we’ll take a deep dive into the stats from Saturday’s Fight Night event. The main card, which took place at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, MO, was broadcast on ESPN following prelims on ESPN+.
