Tom Aspinall admits ‘I was wrong’ in live reaction to Alex Pereira’s UFC 320 mauling of Magomed Ankalaev

Tom Aspinall was very impressed by Alex Pereira’s performance at UFC 320.

‘Poatan’ needed just 80 seconds to take back his light heavyweight title from Magomed Ankalaev.

The Russian fighter outpointed Alex Pereira over five rounds when they first fought at UFC 313 in March.

Tom Aspinall predicted a repeat result at UFC 320, but that’s not how things played out at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Tom Aspinall reacts to UFC 320

On Sunday, Tom Aspinall shared footage of his live reaction to Alex Pereira’s sensational KO victory.

The UFC heavyweight champion praised his rival and admitted he was wrong as soon as referee Herb Dean waved off the 205lb title fight.

“Boom! There it is,” Aspinall said on his YouTube channel.

“What is that? One minute, 20 [seconds] or something like that? Pereira just absolutely ran through him.

“Look, I was wrong. I was wrong. That’s very, very, very impressive.

“Who’s next for Pereira? See what he wants to do.

“[Carlos] Ulberg has just won. Ulberg’s very good.

“I know he’s been talking about coming to heavyweight, so see what the UFC wants to do.”

Who should Alex Pereira fight next?

Alex Pereira wants Jon Jones next

Alex Pereira held a moment’s silence to remember Jon Jones‘s late brother, Arthur, at UFC 320.

Still, it didn’t take the Brazilian long to begin talking up a potential fight between him and ‘Bones’.

Alex Pereira dismissed Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane, who clash for UFC gold on October 25, as he talked up a heavyweight super fight.

“No,” Pereira said when asked about a move to heavyweight to fight the UFC 321 main event winner.

“I want a super fight. It would be at the White House, against Jon Jones. That’s a super fight.”

Dana White admitted to being hesitant to approve Alex Pereira’s heavyweight move following UFC 320.

But the UFC CEO didn’t rule it out, so stay locked in to Bloody Elbow for all the latest updates on that developing situation.
