It is undeniable that a fight between Alex Pereira and Jon Jones would be one of the biggest fights in the sport’s history.
On Saturday, the premier promotion returned to Las Vegas for another huge PPV offering with UFC 320, headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira.
After a disappointing performance against the Russian earlier this year, Pereira bounced back in emphatic fashion, knocking Ankalaev out in the first round to reclaim his title.
And after once again reclaiming his title as the biggest current star in the promotion, there will be several of 205lb contenders waiting in line to fight ‘Poatan’ next.
Despite that the 38-year-old declared that he is targeting a huge heavyweight super fight against former champion, Jon Jones.

Dana White’s comments following Jones’ last UFC win don’t bode well for Pereira
This isn’t the first time Pereira and Jones have been linked to fight each other, as before the Brazilian began his rivalry with Ankalaev, he stated his desire to move up to heavyweight to fight then champion, Jones.
And at one point, it seemed as though the huge fight would eventually happen as ‘Bones’ was also extremely keen on the idea of fighting Pereira.
Jones then went on to defend his heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 at the end of 2024, and Dana White’s comments following the fight put an end to any talks of Jones vs Pereira at that time.
“You know what tonight told me? There’s no f—— way I make the (Jones vs) Pereira fight,” White said.
“Jon is too big, great wrestler, you see how he took Stipe down in that first round? I like Alex Pereira, I like him personally it just doesn’t make sense to make that fight.
“If they both want it badly enough and they’re both f—— hounding me or something, maybe I would do it… What’s the reason to go up and fight a guy that’s so much bigger than you and such a good wrestler?” he continued.
At this point, Jones is hounding White to allow him to come back and compete on the upcoming event at the White House, however, White remains adamant that Jones won’t be on the card as he cannot be trusted.
Pereira suspects he suffered brutal injury during UFC 320 win
Before ‘Poatan’ can really consider his next steps, he will need to figure out the exact extent of his injury suffered at UFC 320.
The newly crowned light heavyweight champion suspects that he broke his foot during the opening exchanges and following the fight, he was spotted walking around backstage in a support boot.
Depending on the result of a likely x-ray, Pereira may unfortunately find himself out of action for an extended period.
