Alex Pereira referenced Magomed Ankalaev’s trash talk with one-word comment moments after UFC 320 KO

Alex Pereira did not wait long to start his UFC 320 victory lap.

‘Poatan’ added another memorable accomplishment to his UFC résumé at Saturday’s pay-per-view, where he played the role of challenger for the first time in almost two years.

A few months after being unseated from the light heavyweight throne, Pereira knocked out Magomed Ankalaev in the UFC 320 main event to get his revenge.

The result was likely among the most satisfying of the Brazilian’s career thus far given Ankalaev’s brash confidence and pre-fight trash talk, and Pereira did not forget about one specific part of it inside the Octagon.

Alex Pereira did not forget Magomed Ankalaev’s ‘killed Chama’ claim

While fans suspect that many of Ankalaev’s posts targeting Pereira on X were posted by his manager, the Dagestani did not shy away from in-person exchanges with his challenger.

Fight week started out with Ankalaev accusing Pereira of greasing in their first fight, and tension continued to rise at the UFC 320 press conference.

At one point, the then-champion spoke about Pereira’s ‘Chama’ catchphrase, claiming to have ended it for good.

“There is no more Chama,” Ankalaev said. “We killed it. No more Chama.”

After showing Ankalaev that there is, in fact, plenty more ‘Chama’ left in the tank with his fists, Pereira reminded him during their brief interaction moments after the TKO stoppage.

Alex Pereira has a patented celebration after KO’ing trash-talking rivals

Pereira made a statement at UFC 320, telling the other contenders in the division to trash talk at their own risk because they might just end up like Ankalaev and Jamahal Hill.

‘Sweet Dreams’ was the first to really go at ‘Poatan’ during the lead-up to their showdown, with the American former champion even wearing a Moai statue necklace to mock the Brazilian at their pre-fight press conference.

After Pereira knocked Hill out at UFC 300, the light heavyweight king performed a Khaby Lame-inspired celebration that quickly went viral.

While he did not repeat the move after wins over less-hostile opponents in Jiri Prochazka and Khalil Rountree Jr., Pereira brought it out again after a barrage of trash talk in recent days, weeks, and months from Ankalaev.
