Daniel Cormier insists ‘Patchy Mix won that fight’ as ex-Bellator champion loses again at UFC 320

Patchy Mix isn’t off to a great start in the UFC.

The former Bellator Bantamweight Champion returned on the UFC 320 undercard after losing his highly anticipated promotional debut to top contender Mario Bautista at UFC 316 in June.

The matchmakers didn’t do Patchy Mix any favors with his second matchup as he was booked against Poland’s former KSW bantamweight champion Jakub Wiklacz, a protege of UFC Hall of Famer Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Wiklacz and Mix went the full three-round distance on the UFC 320 prelims, with Daniel Cormier and the MMA world divided on the result.

Daniel Cormier disputes Jakub Wiklacz’s UFC 320 win over Patchy Mix

Wiklacz was awarded the split decision win over Mix, with two judges scoring rounds 1 and 2 for the Polish fighter.

Wiklacz did more damage to Mix across three rounds, but he was outwrestled toward the end of the fight.

“There’s an argument to be made for Wiklacz,” UFC play-by-play commentator Jon Anik said on the broadcast.

UFC commentator Daniel Cormier disagreed with the split decision result.

“Honestly, Patchy Mix won that fight,” Cormier said.

“That second round they both traded back-and-forth, had him down the whole time, landing punches.

“I don’t know… I really don’t understand how stuff like this happens.

“It felt like Patchy Mix won the fight,” Cormier added.

“Thought he had rounds 2 and 3,” Anik agreed with Cormier in thinking Mix had won.

Joanna Jedrzejcyzk said Jakub Wiklacz would be a UFC champion someday

All-time great Joanna Jedrzejcyzk was in attendance for Wiklacz’s first UFC win.

Jedrzejcyzk gave her longtime teammate a hug after he made it out of the Octagon.

Following a successful title defense in 2015, the former women’s strawweight champion called Wiklacz a future UFC champion.

“This is my sparring partner. He’s gonna be a UFC fighter, and for sure, he gonna be a champion one day,” Jedrzejczyk said of an 18-year-old Wiklacz.

“He’s young, but very talented,” Jedrzejczyk added.

Now 29 years old, Wiklacz is officially 1-0 in the UFC.
