Khabib Nurmagomedov had to rush his fighter away with a medical team after a stunning KO in Dubai tonight, but still had time for a message to old pal Anthony Pettis.
The former UFC featherweight champion’s brother Sergio Pettis came from behind to land a spinning back fist knockout over Nurmagomedov’s student Magomed Magomedov at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
And just as the legendary lightweight was leaving the cage to attend to his fighter, he shared a brief moment with the younger Pettis brother. He also chatted with coach Duke Roufus, whom he encountered a few times as a fighter.

Khabib Nurmagomedov gave Sergio Pettis message for his brother after brutal KO
After two rounds of impressive pressure from Magomed Magomedov that almost saw him lock in multiple submissions, Sergio Pettis managed to wing a spinning backfist towards the Russian. It rendered him unconscious instantly as doctors and coach Khabib Nurmagomedov swarmed the unconscious fighter.
Ultimately, he was able to walk out of the cage assisted, but before Nurmagomedov rushed off he had a quick moment to share with Pettis and his coach Duke Roufus. He even managed to use that moment to send a message to Anthony Pettis, Sergio’s famous older brother.
Speaking with Bloody Elbow after the fight, he recalled: “He just said ‘good job, man. Good job on the fight and tell your brother I said hello.’ Khabib is a great guy and a great athlete, it’s crazy to see him not in a corner.
“I’m a big fan of his so I was star struck a little bit. But I had to go out there and represent the Pettis last name.”
