Wanderlei Silva handed lengthy ban after DQ defeat led to viral brawl and sickening KO

Wanderlei Silva has been handed a lengthy suspension after his disastrous comeback fight.

‘The Axe Murderer’ took a long break from combat sports after being knocked out by Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson at Bellator 206 in September 2018.

Wanderlei Silva returned in a boxing exhibition against former two-time boxing world champion Acelino Freitas at Spaten Fight Night 2 in São Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday night.

The UFC Hall of Famer was disqualified from the boxing bout for repeatedly throwing illegal shots, including headbutts, at his opponent, before all hell broke loose during a post-fight brawl.

Wanderlei Silva banned from boxing

Wanderlei Silva got knocked out cold by his opponent’s son, Rafael Freitas, during the post-fight fracas.

The 49-year-old considers himself the victim of a ‘cowardly attack,’ but he has still been banned from boxing.

Silva, Acelino Freitas, and their cornermen have been handed lengthy suspensions by the Brazilian National Boxing Council, according to MMA Fighting.

Silva and Freitas were given 180-day suspensions and are banned from any events sanctioned by the CNB (Conselho Nacional De Boxe/National Boxing Council).

Rafael Freitas can’t be sanctioned because he was not a cornerman during his father’s fight.

However, Brazil’s governing body for boxing will recommend his indefinite ban from boxing events.

Wanderlei Silva finds unlikely ally

Chael Sonnen has sent a threat to the man who KO’d Wanderlei Silva, shocking many MMA fans.

The UFC legends have been beefing ever since they brawled during Ultimate Fighter filming 11 years ago.

“To the coward that did THIS to Vanderlei…You f—ed up,” Sonnen wrote on X.

“Only I am allowed to make him look a fool.

“Have a Care, dummy. I’ll see you soon.”
