UFC legend Mark Kerr is finally getting the respect he deserves.
A two-time heavyweight tournament winner in the UFC, there was a time when Kerr was undefeated at 12-0.
They called him ‘The Smashing Machine’, which is the title of Kerr’s new A24 biopic featuring Hollywood actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as the former MMA fighter.
Mark Kerr was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame over the summer.
While Kerr lost more fights than he won towards the end of his career, there’s no denying how good he was in his prime, having finished all of his UFC opponents.
Ahead of his movie’s release this week, Kerr has found himself as a playable character in the new UFC video game.

‘1997’ version of Mark Kerr gets close to five stars in UFC 5
On Wednesday, EA Sports announced that Kerr would be joining the UFC 5 fighter roster.
Kerr is a part of the ‘Legends’ Alter Egos. The character model was based on Kerr at UFC 15, where he won two fights in one night to win his second heavyweight tournament in 1997.
1997 was Kerr’s best year as he racked up four finishes in a span of four months. None of his fights in the Octagon went past the first round.
Kerr’s ‘1997’ Alter Ego has an impressive rating of 4.5 stars, making him one of the best fighters in the video game.
Mark Kerr on UFC Hall of Fame: ‘I didn’t know I needed that’
2025 has been an amazing year for Kerr as well.
Kerr’s biopic ‘The Smashing Machine’ got a 15-minute standing ovation as the credits rolled at the worldwide premiere last month.
Kerr still gets emotional talking about his UFC Hall of Fame induction from the summer, which saw Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and co-star Emily Blunt support Kerr at the ceremony.
“I told this to Dwayne yesterday, since the hall of fame induction, I said, I didn’t know I needed that,” Kerr said of the recognition he’s getting on The Ariel Helwani Show.
“I didn’t know I wanted that. I didn’t know that that little tiny hole that was left in me, I didn’t know I was still trying to fill it up, and nothing would fill it up except that that circle of recognition to circle back and to go, hey, part of what you did helped build where we are—thank you.
“That was the incredible part about the Hall of Fame. It just closed up this tiny little hole that I had left in me. And it’s given me a sense of, yeah, that was amazing.
“That was absolutely just jaw dropping amazing that Emily would take time out of her schedule and DJ would do the induction speech. That was an incredible night. Incredible.
“I get emotional talking about it now,” Kerr admitted.
