Oleksandr Usyk has remained a puzzle to be solved at heavyweight since his divisional bow; however, a rather leftfield contender believes he’s the one to do so.
With his own immediate future in the ring none clearer in recent months amid a persistent back injury, Oleksandr Usyk has once more put his status as undisputed heavyweight champion on the line.
Urged to fight the mandatory WBO challenger next, Usyk is expected to share the ring with either Joseph Parker or emerging British force Fabio Wardley.
However, another British challenger has emerged in his bid to enter title contention, boldly vowing to do what his relative failed to do and topple the Usyk empire.

Hughie Fury insists he’s the heavyweight to beat Oleksandr Usyk
Having already shared the ring with a member of the Fury boxing family, Ukrainian megastar Usyk managed to win the undisputed heavyweight championship against the fighting family’s lynchpin, Tyson Fury.
Handing the ex-WBC heavyweight kingpin a decision loss in their first pairing, at the tail end of last year, too, Usyk would beat Fury for a second time, sending him packing on a fifth career retirement.
However, Fury’s fighting relative Hughie Fury has expressed his interest in a return to the ring before too long, even insisting he has the key to beat Usyk and write his name in boxing history.
“I’m coming back with a bang. I’m in good spirits,” Fury told Boxing King Media. “Hopefully, get out this year and then big fights next year.
And when asked if any heavyweight could currently beat Usyk, Fury boldly predicted his own victory, saying, “Yeah, me.”
Oleksandr Usyk plans continued undisputed title reign
Despite putting his status as undisputed champion in jeopardy amid his latest injury layoff, Usyk remains steadfast in his ambition to defend all the belts in his immediate return to the ring.
Awaiting the outcome of Parker’s title clash with British knockout star Wardley next month, Usyk is expecting to compete in an “exciting location” for his comeback to the sport, according to his team.
“Right now, our team is considering new opportunities and an exciting location to stage another fight for the undisputed world championship,” Usyk’s associate, Sergey Lapin, said in a statement.
“In the meantime, we wish good luck to Joseph Parker and Fabio Wardley – may the best man win.”
