UFC 320 could be a history-making night in MMA if Alex Pereira can land a huge win in the main event.
The former UFC Light Heavyweight champion is looking to regain the title belt from Magomed Ankalaev, seven months after dropping it to the Russian at UFC 313.
Alex Pereira is already a former UFC Middleweight and Light Heavyweight champion, making him one of the most decorated men in the promotion.
A win at UFC 320 would make him a two-time Light Heavyweight champion and also shatter a record held by a legend of the octagon.

Alex Pereira can break Daniel Cormier’s record for the most Light Heavyweight title fight wins
Pereira can jump above the legendary Daniel Cormier in the all-time record books if he picks up a win over the impressive Ankalaev at UFC 320.
Both men currently boast four wins in UFC Light Heavyweight title fights, making them joint-third in the record books.
Cormier won the title from Anthony Johnson in 2015, going on to successfully defend his title against Alexander Gustafsson, Johnson again, and Volkan Oezdemir, before jumping up to Heavyweight.
This gives him four wins in title fights, which Pereira matched in wins against Jiri Prochazka, Jamahal Hill, and Khalil Rountree Jr.
A victory over Ankalaev will put Pereira clear of Cormier, although he still has some way to go before he breaks the all-time record.
However, Alex Pereira is still some way off beating Jon Jones’ record
While he will go clear of Cormier with a win at UFC 320, Pereira is still some way off becoming the winningest man in Light Heavyweight title fights.
Currently, Chuck Liddell boasts five wins at this weight class in championship bouts, so he will go level with that UFC legend with a victory on Saturday.
However, Jon Jones is the undisputed GOAT of the division, winning 14 title fights throughout his legendary reign as champion.
Fighter | UFC Light Heavyweight title defenses |
Jon Jones | 14 |
Chuck Liddell | 5 |
Daniel Cormier | 4 |
Alex Pereira | 4 |
Tito Ortiz | 3 |
Randy Couture | 3 |
The recently retired former UFC Heavyweight champion had multiple spells as champion, which included wins over the likes of Cormier, Chael Sonnen, and Rampage Jackson.
Even if he wins the title and beats Cormier’s record, Pereira is still a long, long way from Jones’ record at UFC 320.
