Wanderlei Silva’s 3:30am health update

Wanderlei Silva got knocked out cold when his comeback descended into a post-fight brawl.

On Sunday, the 49-year-old MMA legend broke his silence after suffering a brutal KO that sent shockwaves through the combat sports world.

Silva complained of a ‘headache that won’t go away’ before providing another update at 3:30am.

“Yeah, my situation really isn’t good,” Silva said on his Instagram story. “Look at my eye.

“It’s half past three in the morning now. I can’t sleep because my head is throbbing too much.

“And tomorrow, not tomorrow, in a little while, right? I’ll have to go to the hospital for some more tests.”

Who knocked out Wanderlei Silva?

It was initially unclear who landed the knockout blow on Wanderlei Silva at Spaten Fight Night 2.

Initial fan footage showed someone in a tuxedo delivering a massive punch to put him out cold.

The man who KO’d Silva during the post-fight brawl was identified when new images from the scene emerged.

According to Combate, it is clear that the man who knocked out Silva in the melee is Rafael Freitas, the son of his opponent, who has a boxing background.

Since the incident, Rafael has deleted his Instagram account, which his brother had tagged him in during the event. It seems that aside from being a recognizable figure, he was also identified by his sibling, Juan Freitas, in a now-deleted Instagram story.

The Brazilian tagged his sibling in a post about the incident, which he captioned [in Portuguese]: “When you’re going to talk about my brother, speak softly. Congratulations, Rafa!” The post was quickly removed.

Silva’s opponent has apologized for the post-fight brawl, but has not yet publicly acknowledged that one of his sons landed the viral knockout blow.
