Former UFC star Jorge Masvidal is still extremely keen on re-signing with the promotion and now he wants in on the blockbuster event.
Former UFC welterweight star Jorge Masvidal left the promotion in 2023 after a string of losses that saw him go four fights without a win.
Since then, ‘Gamebred’ has involved himself in the world of boxing and last July, he fought Nate Diaz in the boxing ring in a rematch of their BMF title fight in 2019.
However, after losing to the Stockton brawler, Masvidal has made it clear that he would like to return to the UFC to take on one of his longtime rivals.

Masvidal makes plea to re-sign with UFC to finally fight rival
During his time in the premier promotion the Miami native had feuds with several fighters on the roster, and after scoring one of the wildest KO’s of all time against Ben Askren, he became quite a big star in the sport.
Earlier that year in 2019, Masvidal sparked a huge rivalry with fellow welterweight contender, Leon Edwards, when Masvidal sucker-punched the Brit backstage at UFC London.
And although after their clash it seemed inevitable that they would end up meeting inside the cage, they never fought in the UFC as Masvidal withdrew from their scheduled fight in 2021.
However, after the announcement that the UFC will hold an event on the premises of the White House in 2026, the former welterweight has made it clear that he would like to return.
“Leon, if you’re watching this, I’ll beat the f— out of you at the White House, Leon, I will beat the f—— dog s— out of you, just like America kicked England’s ass when they were trying to take over our s—, I’m gonna send you back the same way,” Masvidal said during a recent podcast.
“On 4th of July, America’s birthday let them make a mistake and send you to represent England, I will crash that party… I’ll get in shape for you Leon, don’t worry,” Masvidal continued.
Could Edwards vs Masvidal take place at the White House
At this point, it would be extremely unfortunate if a fight between Masvidal and Edwards didn’t happen considering their rivalry for years now.
Despite that, ‘Rocky’ is scheduled to be taking on Carlos Prates at UFC 322 later this year and with a win over the Brazilian, he would likely put himself back into title contention.
However, if the Brazilian comes out on top, a fight between Masvidal and Edwards could be a fun fight with a great storyline to include on the prelims of the White House event.
