Wanderlei Silva’s opponent in last night’s disaster exhibition Acelino Freitas believes that a former UFC heavyweight champion is to blame for the post-fight chaos.
MMA legend Silva was disqualified after an outlandish exhibition bout where he was deducted points for headbutting and even resorted to throwing kicks. Following the fight, the pair’s teams got into a brawl in the ring, during which a man in a tuxedo knocked the 2024 UFC Hall of Fame inductee clean out.
Silva had to be dragged out of the ring and taken to hospital after the incident, but is reportedly recovering well and was only transported as a precaution. And ‘Popo’ Freitas believes that former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum is to blame for the whole incident.

The chaos of last night’s incident that led to Wanderlei Silva being sent to hospital is hard to decipher even with the multiple angles of videos available. It’s hard to see who throws the first punch, but Freitas believes it was Werdum, who he claims should never have been involved in the show.
“I don’t know what the hell these guys put Werdum in this event for,” Freitas told fans in Portuguese during a lengthy video posted to Instagram following the incident. This guy only messes up at other people’s events.
“Werdum, I’m ashamed, man. If I were you, I’d be ashamed, okay? I’m ashamed. You’re the one who came at me. There’s a video of you on top of me, trying to beat me up, man. But God knows what He’s doing.”

In his video, which was viewed 13million times in a matter of hours, Freitas told Silva that the incident should have stayed between them and been restricted to just what happened during the exhibition itself. The UFC legend was disqualified during round four of the contest.
“Wand, it was between you and me, it had nothing to do with the team,” he said, seemingly forgiving his rival for his dirty tactics throughout the contest. “Our fight was you and me in the ring.
“You headbutted, it was fine, and I took everything. But unfortunately, Werdum, cowardly, invaded the ring with your son and went after everyone.”
