Dana White said he was ‘robbed’ of watching hated rival get knocked out by UFC legend following criticism

One of Dana White’s biggest rivals received a savage response after criticizing the UFC.

The UFC president has had his fair share of rivals over the years, but there’s one in particular that will come to mind.

White famously came to blows with Tito Ortiz during a plane ride following years of tension between the promoter and the fighter.

However, there’s another combat sports legend who has frequently been involved in some heated exchanges with his fellow promoter.

White’s move into boxing, which has been met with criticism, now means that he’ll be actively competing against a rival that he was hoping to see suffer a devastating loss.

Dana White slammed Oscar De La Hoya for pulling out of his comeback fight against Vitor Belfort after UFC 266

On this day in 2021, Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega collided in the main event of UFC 266 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

It is certainly not uncommon for Dana White and Oscar De La Hoya to fire scathing comments at one another, with countless examples to point to.

Shortly after Volkanovski emerged victorious in the main event, De La Hoya shared his thoughts on the fight, criticizing White and the UFC for not giving the featherweight champion the money that he deserves.

“Hey Alexander Volkanovski, you just won a brutal battle for the UFC and made 1/20 of what you’re worth. Dana White have some f—— respect for yourself and these fighters and pay these warriors what they deserve”

While the UFC president didn’t attend the post-fight press conference after the event, he still took the time to hit back at the legendary boxer around 40 minutes later.

De La Hoya had been scheduled to make a return to the ring earlier that month to face UFC legend Vitor Belfort until he withdrew due to contracting COVID-19.

White made reference to this in his savage comeback.

“Shut the f— up,” White wrote. “Faking that you had COVID and robbing me of watching you get knocked the f— out by Vitor Belfort. You should win an academy award for your hospital performance.”

Oscar De La Hoya unsurprisingly had some negative things to say about Dana White’s move into boxing

As Dana White’s heated rival and Canelo Alvarez’s former promoter, Oscar De La Hoya was always going to have some thoughts on the recent event that headlined Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

De La Hoya wasn’t just critical of Alvarez’s career, he made some scathing remarks about the entire event and White’s involvement in boxing.

He made it pretty clear that he believes the UFC president should go back to being in his lane.

“Dana White didn’t have his best week, his t-shirt shrank smaller every minute especially when he was questioned about his attempt to amend the Muhammad Ali Act… TKO needs it to change so they can f— fighters over.”

“After this debacle, he decides to skip the undercard and shows up in the beginning of the main event and he’s just watching the UFC on his phone, the entire time. I wonder if he regrets abandoning the UFC for a sport that doesn’t want him… Dana, Canelo, f— you,” De La Hoya continued.
