Roy Jones Jr. was not this boxer’s hardest challenge.

In his career, the American proved himself to be one of the greatest fighters who has ever lived.

Blessed with remarkable reflexes and punching power, he left many an opponent utterly helpless.

But one rival was not just able to compete with the boxing genius, but land a shot so brutal it left him out cold on the canvas.

Glen Johnson said Bernard Hopkins was a tougher opponent than Roy Jones Jr.

Glen Johnson knocked Roy Jones Jr. unconscious in one of the biggest upsets of the 21st century.

With that in mind, the Jamaican doesn’t rate his rival as one of the best he’s been in with, and instead, gives that accolade to ‘The Alien’.

In an interview from 2012, with Boxing Scene, he said: “My toughest fight is always going to be Bernard Hopkins. At the time, I was a young undefeated fighter, and you think you can’t be beat.

“I learned a lot from that fight, and I was humbled to go back to the gym and train harder. I’ve never been hurt like that before. I think it was the first or second punch.”

Johnson isn’t the only person to have finished Roy Jones Jr.

At the peak of his powers, the superstar was nothing short of sensational.
