Gable Steveson puts pause on MMA career to fight in teammate Jon Jones’ promotion

Gable Steveson has his next fight lined up.

The Olympic Champion in freestyle wrestling won his highly-anticipated MMA debut earlier this month, absolutely dominating his heavyweight opponent for a first-round TKO stoppage at LFA 217.

Considering his wrestling credentials and the fact he trains with arguably the greatest fighter of all time in Jon Jones, many wonder what the 25-year-old’s ceiling is in the sport.

However, it looks like Steveson will hold off on his MMA career for now as the Olympian trades the cage for the ring.

Gable Steveson books second fight in Dirty Boxing 4 main event

On Wednesday, fight promotion Dirty Boxing announced that Steveson will be making his debut at Dirty Boxing 4 on Oct. 30.

Steveson will be taking on former Bellator and PFL fighter Billy Swanson. ‘Big Sexy’ has lost his last four fights by knockout. Swanson is coming off a TKO loss in his BKFC debut last month.

Steveson vs. Swanson is set to headline Dirty Boxing 4, which takes place at The Pinnacle in Nashville, Tennessee.

Dirty Boxing is a hybrid promotion with hand-to-hand combat and limited ground and pound. It’s run by former UFC star Mike Perry and co-owner Jon Jones.

Along with watching his teammate Steveson, Jones is set to host a meet-and-greet at the event, which will be his first time in Tennessee.

“Bringing Dirty Boxing to a new city is something we’ve been looking forward to since day one,” Jones said in a press release.

“Nashville’s grit, energy and reputation for spotlighting talent make it the perfect first stop as we expand across the country and eventually go international. This is history for DBX,” Jones added.
