Alex Pereira left a UFC lightweight contender terrified as he trolled him with a phone call amid his training camp for next month.
The former light-heavyweight champion is deep into his Las Vegas training camp for UFC 320, where he will rematch Magomed Ankalaev at the scene of their March showdown. Back at UFC 313, the Russian dominated his Brazilian rival to relieve him of his title after a legendary – if brief – run.
Now, Pereira is dedicating himself fully to getting the belt back, cutting back drastically on public appearances. He is still the same cheeky character, however, as he showed in a phone call with his countryman.

Alex Pereira trolls Renato Moicano in prank call ahead of UFC 320
Alex Pereira is currently basing himself in Las Vegas, where he has rented a home with his team including head coach Glover Teixeira. The pair recently entertained themselves in a YouTube video by calling Renato Moicano, who had just interviewed former champion Teixeira.
He claimed that Moicano’s questions were ‘messed up’, and had caused division within his team. “I know you’re still learning but I’m a guy who speaks the truth. After this interview, Glover changed with me, you want to put us against each other.”
Moicano appeared to nervously laugh before telling Pereira “I doubt it man… You have to respect the master.” Pereira then noted that he is “also a master in this area, there are two masters.”
Moicano then asked if so much could really change after one interview, to which Pereira replied: “It’s all bulls— man. You’re not in Las Vegas right now? One day I’ll find you here, man.”
However, just as Moicano appeared to be getting concerned and insisting that he hadn’t asked any untoward questions, Pereira let him know that it was all a prank. He noted that he and Teixeira were sitting next to one another, to which ‘Money’ asked why he would mess with him on a Sunday.
Alex Pereira faces gruelling weight cut for UFC 320
While he is focusing on finishing off training camp and making prank phone calls, Alex Pereira is also staring down a pretty tough weight cut. He recently shared a video showing that he is currently weighing 106.2kg, or around 234lb.
Pereira will need to tip the scales at 205lb on the morning of October 3, meaning he has just over ten days to drop 29lb. Despite having to get down to 185lb in his early run, the Brazilian has never missed weight in the UFC.
