Conor Benn reflects on cheating allegations

Conor Benn spent the next two years trying to prove he was a clean athlete amid cheating allegations.

The 28-year-old was ultimately cleared of any wrongdoing by the National Anti-Doping Panel (NADP) in November 2024.

Now Benn has revealed the devastating impact the drug test drama had on his personal mental health.

‘The Destroyer’ and his wife, Victoria, both cried as they discussed how it almost broke up their marriage.

“Being on the brink of suicide,” Benn said during episode 5 of the new Netflix docuseries.

“Then having panic attacks in my sleep. Dripping sweat. Scared to wake up or go to sleep.

“I couldn’t cope. I didn’t find comfort in my family. I found extreme failure, extreme responsibility, extreme shame. I was going to end my life, and I came very close to it.

“I was so bad. How did it get so bad?”

A tearful Victoria added: “Me and Conor weren’t even sure if we were gonna make it, just because it was so much and it was intense.

“That’s why I’m so proud of us because of the way we got through it. It’s definitely hard to think about those times and what kind of strain it put on us, our relationship, and our family.”

What’s next for Conor Benn?

Conor Benn won two relatively low-profile fights in America while his drug case was ongoing.

Once cleared, a long-overdue grudge match with Chris Eubank Jr. was finally rebooked for April 2025.

The bitter rivals delivered a ‘Fight of the Year’ contender in front of 67,484 fans at Tottenham Stadium in London, England.

Eubank Jr. vs Benn was so good that a rematch between the two men has been booked for November 15.

Whoever wins could be next in line for Terence Crawford after his recent victory over Canelo Alvarez.
