Floyd Mayweather has broken his silence on Canelo Alvarez’s recent shock loss to Terence Crawford.
Just over a week ago, Canelo Alvarez suffered his first loss in over three years when he was dominated by Terence Crawford in their undisputed super middleweight title fight at the Allegiant Stadium.
Not long after the spectacle, it was announced that the fight had broken the record for the most viewed men’s title fight of the century, ranking it above even Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao.
However, despite breaking records and making an obscene amount of money for the fight, questions have arisen regarding Canelo potentially retiring from the sport.

Mayweather breaks his silence on Canelo vs Crawford
The aforementioned Floyd Mayweather was the first fighter to hand the Mexican a loss during his storied career, as Mayweather schooled a then 23-year-old Canelo.
Although ‘Money’ had yet to offer his thoughts on the fight between Canelo and Crawford, not long after the result, he posted a bet slip, showing that he won over $70,000 from the fight.
The consensus greatest boxer of all time has since offered his thoughts on the fight, also giving his opinion on the potential retirement of Canelo.
“It was good for boxing, it was exciting and the best man won,” Mayweather told TMZ Sports.
“I don’t know (if Canelo is washed up now at 35 years old), boxing is a lot of wear and tear on the body, maybe so, I’m not really sure.
“I don’t know (if I’d be interested in seeing a rematch) it’s up to those guys, if they wanna do a rematch, do a rematch, if not, keep it moving. I’m pretty sure I’d watch it if they did it again,” Mayweather continued.
Of course, Mayweather is controversially set for his own comeback to the ring as he is set to take on Mike Tyson in a ‘legend vs legend’ exhibition matchup in 2026.
Mayweather potentially set to return to professional boxing after Tyson clash
After his win over Canelo, fans have been questioning whether Crawford is higher on the GOAT list than Mayweather, predicting how a fight between the two would go.
And with fans continuing to talk about Mayweather’s legacy, the 48-year-old has shockingly revealed that he may return to professional boxing following his fight against Tyson.
