Conor McGregor names the opponent he will face at the UFC’s White House event in 2026 after confirming comeback

According to the man himself, Conor McGregor will finally settle a rivalry in his UFC return.

There has been a lot of talk about the biggest star in the history of the sport making his long-awaited return to the Octagon in 2026.

Dana White recently provided an update on McGregor’s status, claiming that the Irishman is very serious about competing at the White House next year.

With an event of this magnitude, it makes sense that this would finally motivate the 37-year-old for a return.

McGregor may have been recently pitched a surprising opponent, but now he’s spoken publicly on the matter of who he will face.

Conor McGregor says he will fight Michael Chandler at the UFC’s White House event in 2026

A former friend of Conor McGregor’s believes that his withdrawal from the Irish presidential race is a good thing as he gears up for a UFC return.

Of course, fans have had their doubts as to how serious his intentions to come back really are, which ‘The Notorious’ recently addressed during an appearance on Fox & Friends.

McGregor didn’t just categorically state that he will be fighting at the White House next year.

The former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion went on to name the opponent that will be standing across the Octagon from him.

Despite their cancelled matchup in 2024 that was already long overdue, Michael Chandler has recently said that he’s confident he will face McGregor.

It now looks like ‘Iron’ Mike may finally get his wish to compete in the biggest fight possible in MMA on the grandest stage.

“I’m on it,” McGregor confirmed. “I am, this is me. Michael Chandler. Michael Chandler and myself have done the show, The Ultimate Fighter, we’ve had a good back and forth. He’s a good, tough guy.”

Dana White’s previous comments slightly contradict Conor McGregor’s latest news

Conor McGregor’s latest comments suggest that his fight with Michael Chandler is already locked in for the main event of the UFC’s event at the White House.

While the UFC may have given him some kind of nod to suggest that this will be the case, Dana White has previously stated exactly when he will start putting this card together.

Speaking in an interview on The Jim Rome Show, the UFC president said that he’ll begin matching fights for this event in February.

He did, however, also state that if everything goes ahead as planned, McGregor will be returning at the White House.
