UFC Hall of Famer explains how Ilia Topuria is winning without even fighting Terence Crawford

Ilia Topuria is getting the better of Terence Crawford right now, according to a former UFC world champion.

On Saturday night, ‘Bud’ schooled Canelo Alvarez to become the undisputed super middleweight world champion, in front of a massive crowd at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Now, attention has switched to who the legend will face next.

And with Topuria adamant, Dana White will allow him to box; fans are wondering whether a matchup between two combat sports icons could come to fruition.

Daniel Cormier says Terence Crawford discussing a fight is a win for Ilia Topuria

Daniel Cormier believes Ilia Topuria is getting the upper hand against Terence Crawford.

While ‘DC’ doesn’t believe the mixed martial artist should actually take the fight, he insists that merely getting the five-weight world champion to bring him up in conversation is a win in and of itself.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Cormier said: “Initially, I thought Terence Crawford would just no-sell Ilia Topuria.

“But ‘Bud’ Crawford isn’t one to ignore stuff.

“Guys, Bud is saying it isn’t worth his time, but Ilia Topuria in this, right now, is winning.

“He’s winning because he has him talking about him. Every time Terence Crawford speaks Ilia’s name, Ilia wins. That’s another step closer to getting what he wants.

“Now, should he fight Terence Crawford? No. But I’ve doubted Ilia Topuria before, and he has exceeded everything I ever could’ve imagined inside the octagon.”

Topuria undoubtedly carries enormous power in his hands.

However, many said the same thing about Canelo.

But when the Mexican set foot inside the ring with the American, he was unable to hurt him.

Interestingly, Crawford says one opponent hit harder than Canelo.
