Conor McGregor could fight MMA legend who’s not in the UFC, says an icon… ‘Not off the table’

Conor McGregor could have an interesting challenge on his hands.

‘The Notorious’ hasn’t competed since his second loss to Dustin Poirier back in 2021.

However, the appetite among fans to see him return remains rife, with Dana White claiming he’s talking to McGregor non-stop about a fight on the UFC White House Card.

And a former world title challenger has pitched an interesting opponent for the Irishman.

Conor McGregor could face Tony Ferguson on the UFC White House card

Chael Sonnen has suggested a clash between Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson for the UFC White House card.

While ‘El Cucuy’ isn’t currently signed to the UFC, ‘The American Gangster’ isn’t ruling out the possibility of the showdown coming to fruition.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel, Sonnen, said: “Not only is it not going to be a title fight, it’s not going to be a number one contender fight.

“It’s not going to be a fight that impacts the rankings at all, and everyone is eligible. Conor used to be a world champion, so Conor can fight anybody, but Conor is not ranked.

“So, if we bring him back, we could put him against somebody who isn’t ranked, an older name, a name that you know, we can bring somebody in.

“Tony Ferguson would not be off the table. This doesn’t impact anything in the future. This is a one-night only event.”

Conor McGregor has three potential opponents for UFC White House card, says Brendan Schaub

A matchup between McGregor and Ferguson would undoubtedly generate headlines.

However, ‘Big Brown’ would like the Dubliner to head in a different direction.

With speculation of the legend’s return growing, Schaub named three potential McGregor opponents.
