New video shows how Jean Silva and Diego Lopes settled their beef moments after Noche UFC fight

Jean Silva and Diego Lopes made peace following their grudge match at Noche UFC.

There was a lot on the line in the main event of this year’s Noche UFC, which took place in San Antonio, Texas, for the very first time.

Brazilian contenders Diego Lopes and Jean Silva fought to assert themselves into the featherweight title picture and ultimately it was Lopes who came out on top, taking out Silva’s perfect UFC record with a spinning back elbow knockout in the second round.

Much was made of the aftermath as Lopes flipped off and talked to Silva’s team cageside. In retaliation, Silva knocked over a stool and punched Lopes in the back of the head.

Tensions eventually simmered down post-fight, with Silva and Lopes burying the hatchet in new backstage footage.

Jean Silva told Diego Lopes he’s a future champion post-fight

A video posted on Lopes’ YouTube channel showed Silva congratulating his former foe backstage moments after the result.

“I’m always gonna accept that, Lopes responded to Silva congratulating him (h/t for translations: Home of Fight)

“No problem,” Lopes added as they shook hands.

“But you guys talked too much,” Lopes said.

“We’ll kill each other [in the Octagon], not here,” Silva responded.

“Congratulations. It’s from the heart,” Silva added.

“I didn’t come to glaze you. Real talk: you’re going to be a champion,” Silva told Lopes.

“I know that,” Lopes replied.

“We’re gonna see each other again,” Silva said before the fighters went their separate ways.

Jean Silva had not lost in seven years before Noche UFC

Silva fell to 5-1 in the UFC after his TKO stoppage to Lopes.

Silva was riding a 13-fight win streak into Noche UFC, with finishes over Bryce Mitchell, Drew Dober, Charles Jourdain, Melsik Baghdasaryan, and Westin Wilson.

The last time Silva had lost, prior to Lopes, was a decision to Gabriel Schlupp in 2018.

Other than Lopes, Silva has finished all but one of his opponents since then.
