Chael Sonnen wrote Anderson Silva a bizarre letter before their rematch… ‘PS I changed my mind’

Chael Sonnen addressed Anderson Silva with a letter live on air.

In his career, ‘The American Gangster’ cemented his status as one of the most entertaining fighters of all time.

Of course, Sonnen enraged Dana White with his brawl with Wanderlei Silva, and issued many amusing callouts.

And as far as rivalries are concerned, his feud with ‘The Spider’ might be the greatest of them all.

Chael Sonnen read out a letter to Anderson Silva

After losing in the dying seconds of their first fight, Chael Sonnen was determined to get a rematch against Anderson Silva.

In an amusing segment during an episode of UFC Tonight from 2012, the Oregon grappler took his opportunity to read out a letter he’d written for his nemesis.

Sonnen said: “I’ve taken the time to write Anderson Silva a letter. ‘UFC Tonight’ has afforded me a few moments to share it with him. I wrote this myself.

Anderson, over the last several months, I’ve disparaged your name in an attempt to garner respect and attention for my own. That was wrong, and I apologize.

“My actions were unsportsmanlike; they were uncalled for. Though they weren’t mean-spirited, I do regret them. As you know, I’ve recently become the number one contender, which is a position that respectfully and immediately I am resigning from.

“I wish no further confrontation with you in the Octagon or through the media. In short, I surrender.

“Signed,

“Chael P. Sonnen.

“P.S. I changed my mind. Anderson, you can kiss my a–.”
