Canelo Alvarez has received criticism from a retired boxer.
On Saturday evening, the Mexican was comprehensively outboxed by Terence Crawford inside the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.
Despite his best efforts, there was nothing the now former super middleweight champion could do to deal with his rival. At the end of the fight, Canelo claimed that Crawford is even better than Floyd Mayweather.
In the aftermath of the bout, a former world champion has taken aim at the Guadalajara boxer.

Canelo Alvarez slated by Chris Algieri
Chris Algieri wasn’t impressed by Canelo Alvarez at the weekend.
While the American praised Crawford for his display, he doesn’t think his opponent posed much of a threat.
In an episode of Boxing Scene Today, Algieri said: “I had people text me, ‘That was such a great fight’. I was like, ‘Was it really’?
“It was a great performance from ‘Bud’ for sure, but Canelo really didn’t show up and didn’t adjust or make for a good fight.”

Going into the contest, many feared Canelo would have too much power for Crawford.
However, despite the size disparity, the favorite was never able to hurt the underdog.
Interestingly, Crawford claims one opponent punches harder than Canelo.
