Michael ‘Venom’ Page eyes Leon Edwards showdown in March

So far, struggling to find an opponent for a preferred return in November or December, Page initially had sights fixed on a clash with Fighting Nerds staple Carlos Prates.

“I’ve asked for that [a fight against the winner of Leon Edwards and Carlos Prates], as well,” Page said during a Total Kombat media day. “I would prefer it if it were Leon, I’ve always said this. They [the UFC] always come back to the UK in March, this is why I’m gonna get one more [fight] in before the end of this year.

“…I actually asked for a guy, another undefeated fighter, cos I’m like, let me just start taking out everybody. Michael Morales, he’s like 18-0,” Page explained.

Taking on top contenders and stars inside just four fights in the promotion, Page debuted with a decision win over Kevin Holland a year ago.

And suffering defeat in his sophomore outing in the Octagon in a judging loss to Ian Garry last summer, Page has claimed many fighters atop the division do not fancy sharing the cage with him since his landing in the UFC.

“The guys that are more senior, like myself, that have been in there a long time, just don’t want to fight me,” Page said. “So even after that, I mentioned I’m happy to fight Prates, but there was no phone call, nothing. And then all of a sudden, he’s got a fight.

“It seems like a weird area at the moment. And you may see me calling out a lot of people, just to make something happen. But at the moment, I’m hoping to just fight in November or December.”
