Jack Della Maddalena can beat Islam Makhachev if he gets one thing right, says a former UFC star

Jack Della Maddalena has a chance of beating Islam Makhachev, says a retired mixed martial artist.

On November 15, at UFC 322, the Australian will put his UFC lightweight title on the line inside Madison Square Garden, New York, USA.

With Magomed Magomedov denying that Makhachev is struggling to put on weight, more and more people are favoring the Dagestani to relieve ‘JDM’ of his belt.

However, one fighter, who himself is even edging towards Makhachev, is refusing to rule the champion out.

Jake Ellenberger says Jack Della Maddalena can beat Islam Makhachev

Jake Ellenberger is favoring Islam Makhachev to emerge victorious against Jack Della Maddalena.

However, the American believes that if the 170-pound King gets his tactics right, he could spring the upset.

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, Ellenberger said: “That’s a fun one.

“[With Islam Makhachev moving up a weight class] that changes the story a little bit.

“On paper, it’s hard to bet against Islam. The guy is incredible. When you get to the highest level, it just comes down to strategy: who can build a strategy and implement it when it matters.

“That’s a fun one. I’m still leaning towards Makhachev, but there are plenty of ways Jack can win.”
