Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford staff picks including an overwhelming favorite for the main event

The fight of the year is nearly upon us, and predictions are flying about who will win between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.

The Bloody Elbow staff have made their predictions clear for the main event, which sees Canelo Alvarez put his undisputed Super Middleweight belt on the line.

He takes on Terence Crawford, who aims to become a three-weight undisputed champion for the first time in the history of boxing.

The fight is expected to be the biggest of 2025, with thousands of fans cramming into Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas in what is already the third-largest gate in boxing history.

The main event, as well as two undercard fights, have been carefully analyzed by the Bloody Elbow experts, who have given their prediction of who the big winners will be on the Canelo vs Crawford card on September 13.

Canelo Alvarez vs Terence Crawford predictions

Despite how impressive the undefeated Crawford has been in his career so far, the Bloody Elbow staff is backing Canelo to be the 1 in 41-1 at the end of the night.

Throughout the build-up to the fight, the weight difference between the two has been the biggest issue. Can Crawford excel after jumping up multiple weight classes to challenge Canelo?

The experts think no, he can’t. Realistically, Crawford is a Welterweight who is comfortable fighting at 147 lbs.

It was clear against Israil Madrimov that Bud’s power did not extend to Light Middleweight, so another two weight jumps will surely be too much for the unbeaten star.

Considering the judges who are overseeing Canelo vs Crawford, it seems like the Mexican has even more advantages over his smaller opponent.

While Canelo has struggled with landing knockdowns in recent years, his ability to control the fight will prove invaluable on September 13.

As great a story as it would be to see Canelo felled by the underdog, there is only going to be one winner on Saturday, and that is Canelo.

Callum Walsh vs Fernando Vargas Jr predictions

Once again, the votes are unanimous. Kyle, Jordan, Jamie, and Ross are all backing Callum Walsh to pick up the win over Fernando Vargas Jr in the semi-main event on September 13.

This Light Middleweight clash pits two undefeated fighters one-on-one, with the loser walking away with a severe black spot on their record.

However, these are two very different fighters. Walsh is more than happy to go the distance, having stopped his opponent just once in the past six fights. He has fantastic stamina and can control a fight, while possessing knockout power when needed to end a bout at the right time.

Vargas is different. He has not been tested over a long period, having only gone the distance twice. The son of former fighter Fernado Vargas, he has huge expectations on his shoulders to succeed where his father did decades ago.

However, the experts think Walsh will be too much for him, and predict the Irishman will come out on top of this battle of the prospects.

With the pair ranked #4 and #5 in the Light Middleweight division, a win for Walsh could have huge implications for a future world title shot.

Christian Mbilli vs Lester Martinez predictions

It is a clean sweep for the experts as they are once again in agreement, predicting that Mbilli will beat Martinez in their undercard clash before Canelo vs Crawford.

Mbilli is defending his own Super Middleweight title, as he puts the interim WBC belt on the line hours before Canelo and Crawford clash for the proper title.

The former Olympian is a knockout artist who is undefeated since turning pro after the 2016 Olympics, and he will not be worried about facing Guatemalan Lester Martinez on Saturday night.

While Martinez has his own undefeated streak and impressive knockout record, the Bloody Elbow staff can’t see past Mbilli knocking out Martinez to retain his title in Las Vegas.
