Former UFC star Yoel Romero keeps on proving age is just a number.
An Olympic Silver Medalist in freestyle wrestling, Cuba’s Romero was one of the most feared middleweights on the planet.
Romero carried tremendous knockout power at 185 lbs, which was on full display during his UFC days, knocking out the likes of former champions Luke Rockhold, Chris Weidman, and Lyoto Machida.
Five years removed from his last UFC fight against then champion Israel Adesanya, Romero is set to take the gloves off in his bare knuckle boxing debut this weekend at BKFC 80.
At nearly 50, Romero’s physique looks just as good as it did back then.

Yoel Romero shows off incredible physique at 48
Romero celebrated his 48th birthday in April. In July, UFC superstar and BKFC part-owner Conor McGregor announced ‘The Soldier of God’ would be joining their roster of fighters.
After having trouble finding a willing opponent, Romero has been booked to face 2-2 MMA fighter Theo Doukas.
BKFC shared photos of an absolutely shredded Romero ahead of his debut on Friday.
Romero was recently called ‘the freak of all freaks’ by UFC commentator Joe Rogan, who referred to him as an ‘athletic specimen’.
Romero weighed in officially at 212.2 lbs on Friday.
Yoel Romero is 5-2 across combat sports since leaving the UFC
When he was 44, Romero was released from the UFC in 2020.
The following year, Romero made his Bellator debut against former champ Phil Davis, but it didn’t go his way, with Davis outwrestling the former Olympian to a decision victory.
Romero went 2-2 overall, winning back-to-back fights by knockout before losing to then champion Vadim Nemkov.
Romero enters BKFC with three-straight wins: a PFL win over former UFC title challenger Thiago Santos and back-to-back knockouts at Mike Perry’s Dirty Boxing promotion.
We’ll see what the MMA veteran can do in his bare knuckle boxing debut on Friday night.
