Fans hopeful of finally seeing Tyson Fury return to the ring may have to wait a little longer, in the wake of a challenge issued to him this week.
Confirming yet another career retirement earlier this year, former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury called time on his illustrious run in the ring following a second loss to Oleksandr Usyk.
However, soon confirming plans to make a comeback in a bid to score a trilogy fight with the Ukrainian, Fury has once more flip-flopped on a potential hiatus-snapping return.
But with long-time foe Anthony Joshua offering him a summer return next year, the Morecambe native’s promoter has ruled out one scenario in particular.

Tyson Fury’s future up in the air with 2025 return ruled out
Initially targeting a return to the ring to take on Usyk in a third grudge match next year, Fury received a charged callout from fellow former champion Joshua overnight in a lengthy tirade.
And with Joshua also ruled out of an immediate clash with Fury in his respective comeback to boxing, a rather dismal update has now been provided by Queensberry Promotions leader Frank Warren on the latter’s future.
“I don’t know,” Warren told IFL TV when asked if Tyson Fury will fight Anthony Joshua next year. “If Tyson decides he wants to fight next year, he’ll make his decision.
“At the moment, he’s certainly not fighting this year,” Warren explained. “
And seeing his best chances of fighting Joshua likely squashed off the back of the Watford native’s devastating knockout loss to Daniel Dubois a year ago, another British promoter remains confident that an overdue clash can happen.
Eddie Hearn urges Tyson Fury to take summer fight with Anthony Joshua
Dealing with a lengthy headache in his bid to book a long-anticipated fight with Fury and Joshua, Matchroom Boxing booker Eddie Hearn has tried and failed countless times to broker a fight between the duo.

However, the Dagenham native claimed that if any time is perfect to finally get the duo in the ring together before their career close, it’s next summer.
“All that’s in my mind in an ideal scenario is to fight Tyson Fury next year,” Hearn told Sky Sports. “That’s the big focus.
“From a common-sense perspective, the fight has to happen in 2026, but common sense and Fury’s decisions don’t always gel together,” Hearn continued. “He’s got to want to come back. It’s a personal decision.”
