Terence Crawford hilariously reacts to ‘drunk’ Ilia Topuria’s prediction on future boxing fight

Terence Crawford has quipped back at Ilia Topuria following the UFC star’s recent prediction on a potential boxing match.

Making his return to the ring this weekend, Terence Crawford will fight for the undisputed super middleweight crown against Canelo Alvarez.

And with his hands full ahead of the clash with the Mexican star, Crawford received a recent callout from the unbeaten mixed martial arts star Ilia Topuria.

However, reacting to the challenge from the Spanish knockout artist, Crawford issued quite the humorous response.

Terence Crawford brands Ilia Topuria ‘drunk’ after boxing match callout

Running roughshod in the UFC, Topuria, who has scored lightweight and featherweight championships, boasting a staggering knockout rate, finishing seven fights via that method — including three finishes on the trot.

And backing himself to take on Crawford in the ring in the future following a recent encounter, Topuria vowed to finish the unbeaten Nebraska puncher in the very first exchange.

“I won’t talk about what would happen between me and (Terence) Crawford in an Octagon; I’ll talk about what would happen in a ring. I put him to sleep in the first contact!!” Topuria posted on X.

Reacting to the Spaniard’s claims during his media availability this evening, Crawford found the funny side of Topuria’s prediction, accusing him of likely being “drunk” when he posted the tweet.

“That dude (Topuria) is drunk,” Crawford said. “You know, a lot of MMA guys; they drink a lot. So he must have been on the alcohol on that day.”

Terence Crawford’s stunning knockout rate in the ring

Yet to be beaten or even dropped in the ring during his illustrious career, Crawford puts his unbeaten 41-0 record on the line against Jalisco star Canelo this weekend.

And seeing a stunning run of knockout wins spanning seven years snapped against Israil Madrimov last summer in his first outing at the light middleweight limit, Crawford has racked up a stunning 31 career knockout wins.

Entering the ring for the forty-second time this weekend against Canelo in his pursuit of the super middleweight crown, Crawford does so boasting a staggering 75% knockout rate in the squared circle.
