Chael Sonnen claimed he voted for a former UFC star to become US President in 2008… ‘This is a leader of men’

Chael Sonnen only had one person in mind for who he wanted to be the US President in 2008.

In his time in the public sphere, ‘The American Gangster’ has made a reputation for his wild antics.

Of course, Dana White was furious when he brawled with Wanderlei Silva on The Ultimate Fighter.

And ahead of one of his big UFC contests, he rendered Joe Rogan stunned when he opened up about the man he believed should lead the country.

Chael Sonnen said he voted for Brian Stann to be President in 2008

Prior to beating Brian Stann via arm-triangle choke on October 8, 2011, Chael Sonnen made a massive statement about his countryman.

Rogan was shocked by ‘The American Gangster’s’ comments.

In an interview with the UFC from 2011, Sonnen said: “He’s a really special human being. This is a leader of men.

“This is a guy who, when he comes in the room, he’s got a certain aura about him, and when he leaves the room, everybody feels better about themselves. He’s a neat guy.

“I wrote him in for the presidency in 2008; that was who my vote was for.”

Rogan interrupted: “Really?”

The warrior replied: “You’ll find a vote for him, and it was from me.

“You’ll find it again in 2012. And when he’s finally the legal age of 35 per our constitution, I hope we all vote for him in 2016.

“This is a natural leader, and I’d really like to see him go on and pursue that because our country needs good men like that.”

Chael Sonnen was furious when Tito Ortiz gave him the ultimate insult prior to callout

While Sonnen had a massive amount of respect for Stann, the same can’t be said for Tito Ortiz.

The pair shared a huge rivalry that culminated in a fight in Bellator, which ‘The Huntington Beach Bad Boy’ won via a controversial rear-naked choke.

However, the Oregon grappler might get his shot at redemption with his nemesis calling him out for a match in Real American Freestyle.

But it wasn’t the challenge that really got under the former UFC world title challenger’s skin, with Sonnen saying Ortiz insulted him off-air.
