Bob Sapp shockingly set to return to MMA at 51 years old to face fellow cult hero following a seven-year hiatus

‘The Beast’ is set to step back inside the cage in a shocking return.

With some big fights on the horizon, including the recently announced title fights for UFC 322 in November, there’s a lot for fans to look forward to in the final months of 2025.

Of course, in MMA, there’s always the chance of some surprising news and returns shaking up the calendar that nobody saw coming.

Ronda Rousey recently refused to rule out a return following regular theories and rumors that have come around ever since she walked away in 2016.

One comeback that a lot of fans certainly won’t have had written down on their MMA bingo card for the year features a living legend of combat sports, Bob Sapp.

Bob Sapp set to face off with iconic ‘Shaolin Monk’ in Cambodian MMA promotion later this year

Across his lengthy career in both MMA and kickboxing, Bob Sapp has been known for taking part in some of the strangest fights that we’ve seen.

Sapp famously holds two wins over Ernesto Hoost in kickboxing while also having a 14-fight losing streak on his MMA record.

He was able to produce what many assumed would be the final MMA win of his career to break this streak in 2018 and he hasn’t competed in this ruleset since.

It now looks like Sapp is going to try and turn this rebound victory into back-to-back victories that are over seven years apart.

A screenshot shared by Matysek88 on X shows that during their recent live event, Cambodian MMA promotion MAS Fight MMA announced that Sapp, at 51 years old, will be debuting for the promotion later this year.

The announcement shows that he will be taking on another cult figure in Yi Long, who is well known for several viral fights and his ‘Shaolin Monk’ persona.

Bob Sapp’s last fight provided another bizarre chapter to his career

The last bout that is registered on Bob Sapp’s record didn’t take place in MMA or kickboxing.

Sapp has appeared several times in Full Metal Dojo’s Fight Circus series of events, where in April of 2023, he teamed up with Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson.

The two men competed against a different pair in a ‘Siamese boxing match’ where they were joined together by one big oversized t-shirt.

Jackson and Sapp got the win via a TKO in the third round, stopping the promotion’s CEO and a coach at Bangtao Muay Thai.

With that in mind, Sapp returning to MMA to face another cult figure in Yi Long suddenly seems fairly normal.
