Sean Strickland sparring partner claims his rounds with the star used to get extremely heated… ‘Spiral out of control’

Sean Strickland used to have gym wars with a former UFC star.

In his career, the American has made a reputation for his fiery persona.

Strickland recently found out his punishment for a brawl with his teammate’s opponent at Tuff-N-Uff 145.

With all this considered, it comes as no major surprise that his spars can get a little bit tense.

Jake Ellenberger opens up about gym wars with Sean Strickland

Jake Ellenberger used to love a hard spar.

And by the sounds of things, he had his fair share with Sean Strickland.

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, he said: “I’ve gotten into a lot of fights in training in the gym. You’re younger and sparring, and it gets out of control and spills over.

“I had plenty of those with Sean Strickland. The thing I appreciate about guys like Strickland is that you know what you’re getting.

“What I couldn’t stand is when you go into sparring, and you think we’re going 50% and guys are going 100%, just tell me what we’re doing so I can be prepared and aware.”

Jake Ellenberger explains why Terence Crawford beats Canelo Alvarez

In addition to Strickland, Ellenberger has trained extensively with Terence Crawford.

‘Bud’ returns to the ring against Canelo Alvarez on September 13, inside Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

Due to the size disparity, most are favoring the Mexican to get the job done.

However, Ellenberger is convinced Crawford has the edge over Canelo.
