‘I’m a bigger fan of Liam Neeson than I am Bruce Buffer’… Michael Bisping reveals secrets behind filming The Naked Gun

Michael Bisping commentated over an epic fight between Liam Neeson and Bruce Buffer in The Naked Gun.

In addition to his passion for mixed martial arts, ‘The Count’ has caught the acting bug, with the legend featuring in a plethora of esteemed movies.

And he’s made a lot of memories along the way, with Bisping once accidentally dropping Noel Clarke, and more recently spending time with Gerard Butler on the set of Den of Thieves 2: Pantera.

Now, he’s forever played his part in one of the most amusing comedy series in film history.

Michael Bisping on whether he could beat Frank Drebin Jr. in a fight

Michael Bisping called the action as Frank Drebin Jr., played by Liam Neeson, destroyed Bruce Buffer in a hilarious fight scene.

However, despite watching his dear friend lose in brutal fashion to the Irishman, he isn’t keen to set foot inside the octagon himself and avenge the announcer.

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, he chuckled: “Liam Neeson is an absolute legend, so I would not tarnish his name. I’m a bigger fan of Liam Neeson than I am Bruce Buffer.

“I love Bruce, but listen, I’ll back Liam all day long, but Frank Drebin Jr., I don’t know about that one.”

Regardless, Bisping enjoyed every second of his time on The Naked Gun. And while he didn’t have much screentime, he claimed it actually took much longer to film than one might think.

The former UFC champion explained: “Growing up as a kid, I loved The Naked Gun movies, so as soon as that opportunity came about, I was like 1,000,000%.

“I was all about it, regardless of how small the role was; just being involved with the franchise was incredible.

“We said ‘hi’ a couple of times, he (Liam Neeson) was very charming.

“We had Bruce Buffer, Kamaru Usman, Justin Gaethje, Brandon Moreno, Joseph Benavidez, and I was working with Jon Anik, so we had a UFC contingency there, for, I think it was about ten days, in Atlanta because shooting these big movies, they do it very slowly, you’d be very surprised how long the simplest of things take.

“We were in this fake arena in Atlanta with this huge crowd there. It was amazing. Just to be part of The Naked Gun, growing up, I used to laugh my a– off, so very cool.”

Michael Bisping worked with weapons trainer who prepared Keanu Reeves for John Wick

Securing a role in The Naked Gun was absolutely fantastic for Bisping.

But now, he’s excited to take his career to the next level, with a starring role in an upcoming movie.

And he’s gone above and beyond to make sure he performs to his optimum ability.

Incredibly, Bisping prepared with the same weapons trainer who worked with Keanu Reeves for the John Wick films.
