Bas Rutten’s friend suffered a bad injury during a car accident

Bas Rutten was lucky to survive after a horrendous car crash.

In a heroic moment, he went above and beyond to save his friend.

In an interview on the Bertcast, he said: “I had an accident. We weren’t wearing any seat belts.

“We got into a spin on the freeway. It was raining.

“I got launched over the crash barrier. I see my friend flying back and forth in the car. I grab him, put him in my guard.

“We end up upside down in the water. Now, water starts coming in. I don’t know how deep this is.

“My friend is knocked out, so I kick the windows out, pull him up, people started running over. He had his full skull open, we had to go to hospital for surgery.”

In his career, Rutten faced an array of great mixed martial artists.

However, there’s one legend he never had the opportunity to trade blows with inside the cage.
